As a Citizen Advisor you are the face of the company and need to treat all our guests with great humanity. Advisors are educators first, salespeople second. About This Role

Core to the CX lead role is the profound responsibility for ensuring the entire consumer experience, from a non-customer to a loyal customer & passionate advocate of Common Citizen, is cohesive, seamless and most importantly infused with the humanity that is at the core of why we do what we do.

The CX lead will have planning & activation oversight for every touch point with our customers, who we like to call our fellow citizens. This includes but is not limited to brand marketing, & product advertising, media placement & buying, community engagement & events, sales & promotions, retail experience & merchandising, ecommerce and customer support. In development and continuous optimization of an exceptional customer experience, he/she will work alongside the head of people & culture, data & technology, and product innovation & packaging.

Reporting into the Chief Growth Officer, one of the founders of Common Citizen, the CX lead will build a team of both internal and external talented experts to bring our brand positioning to life on both a macro and local level, delivering strong ROI.

As with everyone at Common Citizen, our CX lead should also have a personal passion for contributing to the Common Citizen movement to end the social stigma that prevents people from discovering the higher quality of life that cannabis can provide.

This role will be based in Michigan, with occasional travel to our provisioning centres, for community outreach/events, and working with external partners.

What You Will Be Doing

Experience Ecosystem – leading the conceptualization of an end-to-end customer experience, including:

  • Connecting the dots between marketing, retail, customer support and the enabling technlogy
  • Aligning all consumer touchpoints with the Common Citizen brand blueprint and purpose
  • Ensuring consistency in brand identity to drive familiarity and recognizability
  • Purposeful research, insights & analytics to continuously understand & optimize the health of our brand reputation & experience
  • Determining KPIs and optimizing spend and ROI across all key pillars of the CX

Marketing & Advertising – guiding and coaching our CX team and external partners in delivering all macro/brand and local/community level activations, including:

  • Highly impactful marketing campaigns that demonstrate our leadership role in the social revolution of cannabis, and make Common Citizen a household name
  • Fueling local community connection & other community engagement efforts (ie. influencers, events, sponsorships, participation, contributions)
  • Highly effective & efficient consumer funnel marketing towards inspiring every common citizen (multiple consumer segments) to find their way to safe, high quality cannabis that meets their personal needs through our brand and retail stores, including new product launches and promotional offers
  • Utilizing data analytics and media automation (ie. placement, re-targeting, buying, SEO/SEM) towards continuous optimization
  • Creating a team of exceptional content creators (possibly an inhouse content studio &/or external partners), for development of social content, promotional material, web content, event material, including Writing & scripting, art direction & graphic design, videography & editing

Customer Support – ensuring all our customers, existing & future, have access to quality advice & highly personalized cannabis education, including:

  • Their experience within our retail stores and interaction with our customer service reps
  • Their experience with and surrounding our branded products in 3rd party retail outlets
  • Their experience on our website and other ecommerce platforms

Co-creation - partnering with neighbouring internal teams to infuse the following with our brand experience vision:

  • Product Innovation. Working together to both ensure our product experience lives up to our brand promise, and our new product development is consumer-need driven
  • People & Culture. Working with the organizational design and brand reputation team to ensure our retail team delivers a service experience that puts people first
  • Data & Technology. Working with our technology team to optimize our use of technology and data collection/analytics in driving exceptional marketing campaigns and brand experience

Coaching & Mentoring, including but not limited to:

  • Collaboratively creating and constantly refining our customer experience standard work processes towards the highest quality, most value-add output
  • Guiding the effective and efficient management of the customer experience budget
  • Ensuring team compliance with cannabis industry marketing guidelines, rules & regulations
  • Motivating, clear and deeply human communication practices to maintain a positive and progressive team energy, internally & externally
  • External partner and agency relationship management

The Experience You Bring

  • Business degree with a focus on marketing, communications or technology
  • 15+ years of experience in integrated marketing activation
  • Retail marketing experience is a must
  • CPG, food health & wellness, social good and/or pharma marketing experience preferred

About This Role

At Common Citizen, we are passionate about collaboration and believe no one works in isolation. Thus, we call the role of our Lean Six Sigma lead a Continuous Advancement Captain. Reporting into the CFO, the Continuous Advancement Captain will be responsible for leading, implementing and sustaining a Lean/Six Sigma improvement culture and practice across all Common Citizen teams which include retail, cultivation, processing and manufacturing. We say Continuous Advancement, not Continuous Improvement because we believe that you don't just change something when it isn't working, you change something when you can make it even better.

The Continuous Advancement Captain needs to be a progressive and passionate change agent focused on achieving measurable and sustainable results through the implementation of Lean/Six Sigma best practices. They need to have an expert level understanding and experience with the Lean Six Sigma tools and imbed Lean Six Sigma as a natural way of working throughout Common Citizen as a coach, teacher, and motivator.

As with everyone at Common Citizen, our Continuous Advancement Captain is expected to contribute to the Common Citizen movement to end the stigma and liberate all people through cannabis.

This position will be based in Marshall, MI at our greenhouse, processing and manufacturing facility. Travel will be required to work with members of the retail team at our various locations, ranging from 20-40% of your time.

What You’d Be Doing

  • Initiate deployment (A3s) activities within Common Citizen to ensure that improvement actions are directly linked to the strategic and tactical objectives of the strategic score card and the business units.  The goal is to emphasize efficiency and effectiveness of business processes and enabling breakthrough process changes and improvements to ways of working.
  • Be the contact person for coordinating, communicating, and publicizing Lean Six Sigma Improvement activities and successes company wide
  • Drive Continuous Improvement through leading, supporting, and coaching of projects across Common Citizen (from supplier to customer) using Lean Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement methodologies (DFMA, DFSS, etc.)
  • Facilitate, train, and teach Lean tools and techniques.  Develop and share new tools and techniques to improve Lean Six Sigma effectiveness.
  • Passionately drive visibility and awareness of Lean Six Sigma throughout Common Citizen

The Experience You Would Bring

  • Lean certification with practicum (live training, not online)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification with Practicum (live training, not online)
  • 2-3 years of demonstrated Lean implementation leadership
  • 10  years of increasing responsibility and leadership

  • MBA
  • Lean Enterprise or Toyota Production System experience

About This Role

Every position at Common Citizen from seed to sale, is contributing to our mission to serve our fellow citizens of Michigan with the highest quality, safest cannabis product through our highly individualized and education oriented provisioning centres. As such our growers, harvesters and trimmers are all called Cultivation Citizens.

Cultivation Citizens are a part of the Production Team from plant creation to harvest, and some post-harvest activity. This is a dynamic team, and as such daily tasks may vary, resulting in a fast paced and lively work environment. Cultivation Citizens rely on each other for support and are accountable to each other.

What You Will Be Doing

Outlined below is what we see you doing at this point in time. We are a fast-growing company looking for people that are excited to grow along with us.

Cultivation related work, including but not limited to:

  • Always follow Standard Work procedures for all cultivation activities, to ensure consistent quality cannabis products
  • Using state track and trace software to track all activities and work performed in the cultivation team: including plant tagging and tracking, waste tracking, nutrient and crop inputs, harvest entry, and harvest batch tracking
  • Responsible for sanitation of equipment and production areas, preparation and maintenance of nutrient reservoirs and irrigation system
  • Assure all cannabis products are free from contamination risk at all stages; from propagation to harvest
  • Monitor for quality control checks to ensure process and product quality in line with company standards
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace and displays a high standard of cleanliness and organization
  • Collaborate with other Cultivation Citizens in daily cultivation tasks, training, and review of process with a continuous improvement mentality
  • Employ professional and clear communication practices to maintain a positive and progressive team atmosphere
  • Identify a wide variety of conditions such as plant diseases, existence of insects, nutrient deficiencies, etc.

Harvest related work, including but not limited to:

  • Pre-harvest fan leaf removal in the flower room and recording the waste
  • Removing trellis netting, cutting down the plant, weighing the plant, and entering the wet weight into METRC
  • Removing the waste fan leaves and hanging the plant for drying
  • After the plant is dry, removing the flower from the stem and store for curing

Post-harvest work, including but not limited to:

  • Monitoring the curing process and recording moisture content
  • Trimming and sorting flower for packaging

The Experience You Bring

  • Degree in Horticulture, Biology, Agriculture, or equivalent is preferred. Experience in agricultural or food safety/handling industry is acceptable in lieu of degree.
  • Computer proficiency is a must. Experience with cannabis track-and-trace software such as BioTrack, MJ Freeway, or METRC is a plus.
  • Efficient cultivation/production work ethic with application of problem-solving skills to overcome daily cultivation/production issues.
  • Knowledge of plant diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment processes and options.
  • Must have accountability, proactive behavior, strong attention to detail. Can follow company policies and contribute towards the goal of achieving production targets within set timelines.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Must be able to lift, pull and push 50 pounds and stand for entire 8-hour shift

About This Role

At Common Citizen we put people, or as we call them citizens, at the center of everything we do. As such our security guards are called Security Citizens.

The primary role of a Security Citizen is to protect the security of the premises - in particular the security of the people working and visiting onsite, and the security of the safe, high quality product being grown and produced on the premises that will serve our customers across Michigan.

As with everyone at Common Citizen, our Security Citizens should also have a personal passion for contributing to the Common Citizen movement to end the social stigma that prevents people from discovering the higher quality of life that cannabis can provide.

Reporting into the operations team, this role will be based  Marshall Michigan.

What You Will Be Doing

Ensure policies and procedures are executed to achieve an operating environment that meets security and safety objectives, including but not limited to:

  • Lock doors and gates of entrances and exits to secure buildings
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances
  • Monitor (credentials and health screening) and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain the safety and security of the premises, the people and the product inside
  • Identify internal and external security risks
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, equipment or product theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
  • Patrol the facility premises (interior and exterior)  to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, gates etc.
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized or disruptive persons

The Experience You Bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of leading best practices of loss prevention and security
  • Understanding of security investigation principles, practices and techniques
  • Prior security, law enforcement or military experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, not required but preferred

About This Role

The role of the Common Citizen Budtender, who we like to call Citizen Advisor, is one of utmost importance. As a Citizen Advisor you are the face of the company and need to treat all our guests with great humanity. Advisors are educators first, salespeople second. Their primary role is to provide unparalleled customer service in which they educate their fellow citizens, the dispensary guests, and help them discover the cannabis products that will help them achieve a higher quality of life.

When not assisting their fellow citizens, Advisors are responsible for keeping the dispensary clean and orderly, including keeping bathrooms presentable and well stocked. Advisors will also sometimes work reception. This includes greeting guests, checking newcomers in, answering any questions they may have and ensuring that their profiles are up to date and correct. Advisors may also be called upon to assist with inventory.

Finally, as with everyone at Common Citizen, Advisors are expected to contribute to the Common Citizen movement to end the stigma and liberate all people through cannabis.

What You Will Be Doing

Creating an unparalleled customer service experience for our guests, your fellow citizens, that leaves them feeling well cared for, including but not limited to:

  • Consistently exceptional customer service
  • Strong long-term relationship-building
  • Following the Common Citizen advisor protocol
  • Providing problem-solving sales assistance, including upselling & cross-selling when it is to your fellow citizens benefit
  • Generating references, referrals & repeat visits
  • Simple math & data entry
  • POS system entries
  • Regulatory compliance (ie. LARA. Metrc)

Staying current with cannabis knowledge in order to educate & serve with excellence, including:

  • Cannabis plant and product form knowledge
  • The Common Citizen product offerings
  • Hosting or participating in educational events, onsite & offsite

The Experience You Bring

  • A minimum of 2 years in a customer service role in a retail environment
  • A background in healthcare, social work or related fields is also preferred
  • Personal experience with cannabis – although not required, ideally you are a current medical cannabis patient in the state of Michigan
