About This Role

The role of a Chapter Captain is to guide and inspire the team to deliver an exceptional chapter experience that promotes the Common Citizen movement. This involves leading by example in serving your fellow citizens; inspiring and admiring your team members; and working with company experts in value streams such as HR, Finance and regulatory compliance.

The Chapter Captain is also responsible for leading the Common Citizen movement on the local level and creating an efficient and profitable operation of the chapter. A Chapter Captain will also be expected to step in and assist with reception, inventory management and retail floor activities such as advising patients and customers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Creating an unparalleled Chapter experience for your fellow citizen, that leaves them feeling cared for.
  • Creating a quality work experience for the Chapter team, seeing them as people not employees
  • Manage, supervise, and direct the activities of the Chapter and team

Job Title: Cultivation Accountant
Department: Finance
Reports to: Controller
Status: Exempt

About This Role

At Common Citizen, we are passionate about collaboration and believe no one works in isolation. Thus, we call the role of Cultivation Accountant a Cultivation Accounting Lead. Reporting into the Controller, the Cultivation Accounting Lead will be responsible for working seamlessly with people across the organization to ensure accurate financial control and reporting across all of our cultivation and processing locations. As we are a fast-growing start-up company, some design and setup of our processes is required.

As with everyone at Common Citizen, our Cultivation Accounting Lead is expected to contribute to the Common Citizen movement to end the stigma and liberate all people through cannabis.

This position will be based in Marshall, MI. Some travel may be required to meet with members of the retail team at our dispensaries.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Establishing, communicating and constantly refining policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Review JEs carefully for anomalies and other inconsistencies
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting reports for submission to management
  • Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording verifying, consolidating and entering transactions
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
  • Assist the Finance Captain with suggesting changes to policies or procedures to increase cash flow
  • Classify costs accurately
  • Manage the bio-asset accounting strategy for all cultivation, and partner with the Finance Captain to manage our cultivation and processing inventory levels and bio-asset valuation

The Experience You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 4 - 7 years of experience in an accounting role
  • Manufacturing, agricultural, distribution, or consumer packaged goods experience is preferred
  • Experience with intercompany activity, consolidations, inventory management, and taxes is preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Experience working with a variety of legal and regulatory entities
  • Experience working with financial software to manage company finances.
  • Ability to explain complex or technical financial subjects to a non-technical audience

Job Title: Executive Director of Revenue

About This Role

Reporting into the CFO, the Executive Director of Revenue will be responsible for working seamlessly with people across the organization to drive the company’s long and short-term revenue strategy for pioneering into new Michigan markets and opportunities across the Michigan retail market. As we are a fast-growing start-up company, some design and setup of financial systems is required. This position will be based out of Marshall, MI, but we can be flexible on the day-to-day work location of the EDOR. What You Will Be Doing

  • Establish both short-term results and long-term strategy, including revenue forecasting by Retail location
  • Drive monthly revenue results and take accountability for both short-term success and longer-term strategy
  • Build and monitor the revenue pipeline and leads, adjusting as necessary to create sustainable growth in the wholesale sales market

The Experience You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree; and/or MBA preferred
  • 10+ years executive level experience in leading sales as an Executive Director of Revenue or Director of Revenue or in a fast paced, high growth environment; prior experience at a CPG, cannabis or manufacturing/distribution company strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working in a hyper-growth environment (scaling, aggregating, integrating businesses) is critical. Specifically, the ideal candidate will have worked in a dynamic growth environment where the focus has been on aggressively scaling up operations to take advantage of a significant market opportunity
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements, system overhauls, and solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborative approach to managing relationships at the executive level, and the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams to meet goals and drive growth, impact, and organizational performance
  • Significant experience in hiring, building and managing a top performing Sales, Marketing and Business Development team in a high-growth environment
  • Highly motivated with a proven track record of delivering profitable sales growth though wholesale channels

Job Title: FACILITIES TECH (Facilities Maintenance Tech)

About This Role

At Common Citizen, we believe taking care of our facilities is everyone’s responsibility and thus we call our Facilities Maintenance tech a Facilities Tech; working with the entire onsite team to keep the facility operating efficiently and effectively towards producing the highest quality, safest cannabis product with the greatest education at the lowest possible cost.

Reporting to the Facilities Lead, the Facilities Tech will be responsible with assisting the team for smooth operations of our plant/greenhouse at the Marshall facility. In this role, your responsibilities will encompass assisting with operational efficiency, work order completion, control systems & preventative maintenance.

As with everyone at Common Citizen, our Facilities Tech should also have a personal passion for contributing to the Common Citizen movement to end the social stigma that prevents people from discovering the higher quality of life that cannabis can provide.

What You Will Be Doing

Continuously Refine Operations to Maximize Efficiency. A Facilities Tech must have the ability to learn, assist and help improve the facilities maintenance schedule and equipment specifications. Support and delivery reliability and partner with your co-workers to create continuous improvement opportunities by assisting to refining/create work activity to drive efficiency into the manufacturing or delivery of services.

Primary duties include:

  • Follow all safety policies while working safely in the facility environment. Actively promote and adopt the safety culture that all accidents are preventable
  • Follow all GMP's to ensure the Integrity of our product.
  • Attend and support all training opportunities
  • Assist and perform day to day physical facility maintenance, by maintaining a close working relationship with Facilities Lead
  • Sustain workload in a preventative maintenance plan and ensure good communication with outside
    contractors as required.
  • Assist daily with facilities security needs
  • Maintain a clean and 5S work area - adopt and promote the site Lean manufacturing adaptation
  • Maintain HVAC physical plant per equipment manufacturer’s recommendations, and in a safe and trouble-free manner.
  • Assist lead with special projects associated with building changes, including but not limited to construction, expansion, and reconfiguration.
  • Assist lead on special projects (e.g., construction projects, equipment selection, cost-reductions)
  • Assist lead on all electrical systems as necessary and as circumstances dictate, provide necessary cross-training of systems such as Fire Panel, UPS system, VFD’s, etc.
  • As you develop exhibit ownership of focus areas to support the team and culture of the facility
  • Be part of the on - call rotation to assist the facility after hours and weekends

Job Title: General Manager

About This Role

At Common Citizen we are citizen led, lean driven. As such, the primary responsibility of the General Manager of our production facility in Marshall, Michigan is to bring a lean approach to team management and environment control across all operations of the greenhouse manufacturing facility.

The General Manager will work hand in hand with leadership, to ensure the continuous output of the safest, highest quality cannabis products at the lowest possible cost for our customers at both our own retail locations and 3rd party retailer partnerships.

Environmental Control. Work closely with our Facility Manager to effectively maintain an optimal facility environment.

  • Establish environmental policies and implement procedures and monitoring that result in highly consistent products for sale to the consumer (ie safe, effective, and reliable)
  • Coordinate, monitor and maintain building environmental controls and levels with Greenhouse Operations through the BMS system and provide daily audits
  • Lead in the implementation of energy saving programs.

Operational Management. Work in close partnership with cultivation leadership to efficiently & effectively meet demanding production schedules with on-time and within budget deliveries in a highly dynamic and rapidly growing environment.

  • Plan, develop and implement strategy for continuous improvement of operational management and development to meet established targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Humanity and Productivity
  • Develop manufacturing plans and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing consistent with cGMP operations to ensure that products exceed established quality standards and safety regulations/standards
  • Formulate and implement manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation using lean management principles and tools
  • Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., standard work, training and development, safety, housekeeping, 5S, cost reduction, worker involvement, production planning, inventory management, security, daily gemba walk, problem solving, etc.)
  • Support the implementation of new product lines to include line layout, equipment and process validation, standard work playbooks, data collection and metrics
  • Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring various aspects of operational effectiveness
  • Manage expenditures within budgets
  • Contribute to operational strategic plans
  • Assure compliance with all health and safety standards
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including GLP, GCP and CLIA

The Experience You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or greater in a technical field or quantitative discipline and/or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in greenhouse or manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry. A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a significant segment of a large greenhouse or manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer or greenhouse.
  • Familiarity with laboratory analysis reports, stability reports, Certificate of Analysis, Raw Material release and technical reports.
  • Working in a highly regulated environment (ISO, OSHA and FDA) is preferred. Understanding of regulatory compliance and basic quality systems under ISO, or related standards is a must.
  • Experience with scheduling and plan workloads,
  • Implementation of systems and projects that align with strategic objectives of the company.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience for value stream development, production planning, visual management and structure
  • Strategic planning, developing budgets and working knowledge of basic financial statements
